When I start writing in a new notebook, I like to leave the first page blank.
I prefer that the first words I write have no special significance conferred upon them by the first page.
When I open my notebook to write, I do not want any specific idea to accost me.
By the end of a notebook I may be a different person than I was at the beginning, concerned with different ideas.
No writing of mine has ever been the first. I am writing with tools passed down to me/forced upon me.
I think that the first letters I ever wrote were on a baking sheet filled with sand.
